EOS is a revolutionary X-ray imaging system that provides outstanding musculoskeletal imaging.

• Complete “head to toe” digital images in about 25 seconds or less
• Scatter free images to greatly reduce artifact
• Nobel Prize-winning detector with a high dynamic range, enabling excellent imaging of both bone and soft tissue

2D imaging

  • Images are obtained by vertical scanning. Acquisition in the highest resolution mode is 5 to 10 seconds for a spine, less than 25 seconds for a whole body.
  • Two simultaneous frontal and lateral weight-bearing acquisitions in a single scan.
  • Internal system calibration ensures maximum image contrast at all kVs.
  • Images are displayed with automatic contrast and brightness

sterEOS - 2D|3D Workstation

The first weight-bearing 3D modelling that automatically calculates over 100 clinically
relevant parameters*.

Designed specifically for orthopedic applications, the sterEOS workstation offers both a state of art 2D viewer while also enabling 3D measurements and a tridimensional modelling of the bone envelope using EOS low dose simultaneously acquired planar images.

Using the 2 orthogonal images, sterEOS measurements can be made in a 3D environment. Unlike calculations made from 2D X-ray images, which attempt to characterize a 3D measurement by projection onto a 2D plane, sterEOS provides real 3D values.

The 3D bone modelling guided process begins when the operator identifies some key anatomical landmarks on the AP and LAT X-ray images. Using these landmarks, a large statistical database and edge detection algorithms, a 3D model is created and then adjusted to match the shape of the bones. In this way, a unique, large size 3D model is obtained from the two EOS X-rays, with no additional radiation, leading physicians to more accurately evaluate pathologies or plan therapies.

3D modelling of the spine and lower limbs

EOS 2D to 3D imagingsterEOS 3D enables, at any time, large size 3D modelling of the spine and lower limbs (femur and tibia) from the two EOS low dose X-rays, with no additional radiation and in an upright position.

sterEOS also automatically performs a variety of angle and posture calculations between individual bones, enabling new ways to globally evaluate a patient’s postural abnormality.
